If there’s one thing that nearly everyone deals with when trying to lose weight it’s that, at one point or another, you’re likely to hit a wall. This could take any number of forms. You could find that your progress slows for some reason. Or it could simply be that you lose the motivation and momentum that kept you going at the beginning.

That being said, there are always ways in which you can break through your weight loss wall! Which ones work for you will depend on different factors, but here are four simple options that can help.

4 Ways To Break Through Your Weight Loss Wall

1. Detox

Detoxing is one of the best ways to get through the initial barrier when you first start trying to lose weight.

A lot of the weight people carry tends to include water weight, and detoxing can be incredibly useful for helping drop that weight while also getting rid of harmful toxins in your system. Plus it’s a healthful practice that benefits your entire being – body and soul.

2. Focus on density and liquid

There are few things more frustrating than always feeling hungry and still not seeing results. This is one of the most common reasons why many people give up on losing weight.

However, this often comes down to one major error. You can’t just cut your portion sizes and expect the weight to fall off.

The reality is that foods like fresh fruit and vegetables contain more fiber and water, which means you can eat a lot more of them and become full while consuming far fewer calories than if you were eating highly processed foods, or foods high in salt or sugar.

Not that I’m counting calories here (because I don’t – since I discovered intermittent fasting). But if you’re into that sort of thing, there you go.

Truth be told when we consistently focus on eating foods with a high nutrient composition our body runs more efficiently.

Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of purified water. Even better, why not juice a lemon and make some fresh lemon water so you can reap the health benefits from the citrus fruit?

Sharing your weight loss journey with friends can help you get over inevitable plateaus.

3. Get help from a friend

Sometimes the diet wall doesn’t appear all at once but sneaks up on you. You start out by taking a day off, then over time, you take more and more. And eventually, you’ve given up entirely.

But, having a supportive friend (or friends) who can give you support and stop you from falling into bad habits keeps you honest. Plus, you can encourage each other on your health journeys.

It’s easy to convince yourself not to bother with sticking to your health plan. But it’s much harder to justify it to someone else. Plus, everything’s better with a friend.

4. Try a fitness app

And, last but not least, if you’re tech-savvy (or not) or simply own a smartphone, you can download one of the best free weight loss apps to help you stay on track with your goals.

One of my favorites that I’ve used for years is MyFitnessPal. You can record everything you eat, which is especially handy if you live the keto lifestyle and track your macros. (Or any other eating plan for that matter)

I have other favorite health and fitness apps (all FREE) including:

  • Seven – a HIIT training app that gives you a great work out in only 7 minutes a day
  • Fitbit – for those of you who own a Fitbit and want to keep up with your goals
  • Home Workout No Equipment – This one is great if you’re wanting to build muscle or tone up.
  • Plank Workout 30 Days Plank Challenge Free – I’ve been through this challenge a couple of times. It’s amazing how quickly a simple plank (and short time commitment) can strengthen your body so much! Planks are my go-to.
  • Lose Weight In 30 Days – If you commit to 30 days these scientific workouts will give you good results. I love this one!

Summary – How To Deal With a Weight Loss Plateau

Of course, it’s important to remember that just because you’ve broken through the weight loss plateau doesn’t mean that you aren’t going to come up against another one.

(Sorry, I don’t mean to be a Debby Downer.)

Losing weight can be a long and (sometimes) difficult process. But following these strategies and bouncing back quickly after setbacks will help get you the results that you truly want.

Knowing what to do when you hit a weight loss plateau is half the battle. Stick to your plan and don’t let any obstacles get in your way. It will be worth it in the end.

You are worth it and I believe in you!

I wrote an eBook all about my experience with intermittent fasting. This method allowed me to burn fat, lose weight (the effortless way), and be healthy…without feeling hungry. It even cured my hypoglycemia. If you’d like to learn how I accomplished these great results, you can check out my book HERE!
